Dr Oscar John ma

Dr. Oscar John Ma is still involved in health care, even though he is no longer an emergency doctor. In addition to his volunteer work and other medical positions, he stays focused on best practices and new ideas in healthcare.

Role and Responsibilities Now.

As a healthcare consultant, Dr. John Ma helps large medical centers improve the quality of care and keep patients safe. He also writes for a newspaper.

Education

In 1981, Dr. John Ma went to the University of Colorado at Boulder to start college. From 1981 to 1986, he went to college and got a bachelor of arts degree. As part of Lancaster University's Junior Year Abroad Scholarship Program, a year was spent at Lancaster University in Lancaster, England. After high school, he went to the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., from 1986 to 1990 to get his M.D.

The training after college was very varied. In 1990 and 1991, he did an internship in internal medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. John Ma began his residency in emergency medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 1991. From 1993 to 1994, he was the Chief Resident.

Getting more Education

During his time as a doctor, Dr. Oscar John Ma's skills gave him access to many new management opportunities. From 2001 to 2012, management training was done at different times.

Courses in management, hospital department chairs, and lean leader training were also offered. John Ma got a certificate in Executive MBA Essentials and went to workshops for new and future chairs and a physician leadership academy.

History of Work

John Ma's medical career lasted for more than 30 years and included a lot of research, studies, and improvements in how medical teams were led at different hospitals.

His first job was as an attending staff member at Chapel Hill's University of North Carolina Hospitals. John Ma went to work right away as the medical director for Carolina Air Care. Within a year, he worked as a residency research director and was in charge of emergency ultrasonography in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

John Ma moved to the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine in 1997. He worked as an attending doctor at St. Luke's Hospital and then at the Truman Medical Center, where he stayed for eight years and moved up the ranks. In the first year, he was in charge of research for the Department of Emergency Medicine. In the year 2000, he became vice-chair for academic advancement. In 2002, he was given a full vice-chair position in the department of emergency medicine. In 2006, Dr. John Ma was named Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Chief of Emergency Medicine.

In 2007, Dr. Oscar John Ma moved to Oregon Health & Science University, where he became Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Chief of Emergency Medical Services.
